Dr. Smith is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is fellowship trained in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. Dr. Smith treats musculoskeletal conditions resulting from injury, overuse, and arthritis. He has a special interest in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, knee and shoulder reconstruction, shoulder replacement surgery, and treating athletes and patients of all ages.
He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. He then completed his Orthopaedic training at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL, followed by his fellowship training back in Memphis at the Campbell Clinic.
Dr. Smith currently serves as a team Orthopaedic physician for the Tampa Bay Rays. He has previously been a team physician for the National Basketball Association’s Memphis Grizzlies, University of Memphis, World Wrestling Entertainment, the NBA G-League’s Memphis Hustle, and the Alliance of American Football’s Memphis Express.
Dr. Smith has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and references with topics including reverse shoulder arthroplasty, knee meniscus surgery, labral tears in professional baseball players, as well as injuries in youth football players.
He has been in private practice at All Florida Orthopaedic Associates since 2019, where he is practicing in his hometown of St. Petersburg, FL.
